Claire joined WCIS in 2014 and is the COO of WCIS and head of the private law department. Before joining WCIS Attorneys, she practiced for her own account, and lectured at various private tertiary institutions in various private law subjects, including law of persons and family, indigenous customary law, succession and criminal law.
Claire recently completed a three month contract position at the Johannesburg Children's Court where she sat as an acting Magistrate in the Children's Section. She dealt with a range of matters during her tenure including adoption and foster care, children in need of care and protection and access matters.
Claire also deals with a number of matters concerning the elderly and the mentally ill, and brings curatorship and mental health applications to alleviate the burdens placed on families when loved ones fall ill.
Claire is committed to making legal knowledge more accessible for the public at large and is involved with ProBono.org to make this a reality. She has appeared on Radio Today with Patrick Blacher discussing domestic violence and maintenance in Women’s month, and was guest speaker at the Women’s Day community event at Constitution Hill.
